1911 Fire Proved Photojournalism's Power

Coverage of the Triangle Waist Company factory fire in 1911 by a corps of photojournalists — armed most likely with hand-held Press Graflex cameras — was one of the earliest such graphic, public, inescapable and almost instantaneous media assaults on genteel sensibility and certainly helped enshrine the tragedy.
