by David BurnettWe had been lingering on the edge of battle in this small village when a droning noise came out of the distance. Two A-1 Skyraider planes, with Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF) markings started circling Trang Bang. After a couple of passes they began diving towards the village. I had finished the first roll of film in my Leica III, and had started to reload. The planes came in, lumbering along as they do, and dropped big canisters of napalm. Moments later there was a fiery explosion, and a large fireball erupted on the edge of the village near a pagoda, followed by billows of dark smoke. I was still struggling to slide the Tri-x into my Leica, with one eye watching the planes and one on the camera. The planes made a couple of passes, the film still resisting to go into that narrow loading slot on the Leica. Then, all of a sudden everything changed.

So I returned for a second three-day trip to take a closer look.

Getty Images recently signed Lauri Lyons as its first black female photographer. Though there are black photojournalists and women photojournalists who work for major photo agencies, Lauri Lyons is the first black female under contract to a major agency. This is an important move and hopefully a harbinger of things to come.

As you point out, the two 5D Mark II cameras sync perfectly with each other, but not with your other capture devices. The technical issue here is that the EOS 5D Mark II captures video clips (HD or SD) at a true 30.00 fps, while your other A/V devices record and playback at 29.97 fps, which is the standard for video in North America. This difference eventually results in a loss of synchronization when combining the EOS 5D Mark II video with your other content. You can transcode the EOS 5D Mark II footage to 29.97 fps, but it will take a long time

CERTAINLY, FILTHY FLUNO is not the first artist to realize that in order to sell his paintings, he needs to sell himself. He does, however, work at it with impressive zeal. Every day he makes new friends and cultivates new contacts, edging himself and his work — a collection of expressionistic oil paintings and vibrant, graffiti-laced pastels — just a little bit farther into a universe that to others might appear huge and indifferent, but as Filthy sees it is stuffed with possibility and also potential customers. To this end, you will often find him wandering around art openings and dance parties, dressed in a spiffy suit and pair of sneakers, trying earnestly to chat up every person in the room.
