The favorites are based on what’s been honored by other press contests in the weeks leading up to Pulitzers — the most revered of U.S. awards and the oldest, celebrating their centennial this year. I’ll also focus on the reporting-based categories — for the most part setting aside photojournalism, commentary, criticism and editorial writing and cartooning
