The final resting place of Filipino presidents and celebrities, some 80 funerals take place at Manila’s North Cemetery each day. Today the cemetery is also home to more than 2,000 of the city’s poorest families. In order to bring the story of the breathing citizens of North Cemetery to life, James Chance, the 2010 recipient of Pictures of the Year International’s Emerging Vision Incentive, will spend the next year photographing the unique community.
