The “Escale à la Grange aux Belles” is a citizen-driven, people’s educational project, supported by the Ile de France Region. Each year there are 8 exhibitions that aim to raise awareness on social problems and deal forcefully with realities that are often unrecognised. A video portrait of the photographer, presenting his or her experience, aesthetic point of view, the direction of his or her approach and the major challenges presented by the project, supports each exhibition.
Last March, a jury met to elect the three winners from a pool of fifteen. The exhibition will feature reports by JP Lopez about starving children in Guatemala, Colin Delfosse’s “Polygones” taken in Kazakhstan, and Misha Freidman’s series on tuberculosis in the former Soviet Union. The latter was awarded the Prix ANI-Pix Palace 2012 during a September 5 screening at Campo Santo during this year’s Visa pour l’Image.
The final selection included JP Lopez ’ reportage on starving children in Guatemala, Colin Delfosse on military sites in Kazakhstan, and Misha Freidman on the tuberculosis epidemic in former Soviet states. Their work will be exhibited at the Bar Floréal in Paris in September 2012.
