The picture was made with the Canon 5D mark II and a 400mm-lens. It consists of 1.665 full format pictures with 21.4 megapixel, which was recorded by a photo-robot in 172 minutes. The converting of 102 GB raw data by a computer with a main memory cache of 48 GB and 16 processors took 94 hours. With a resolution of 297.500 x 87.500 pixel (26 gigapixel) the picture is the largest in the world. (stand December 2009)

I didn’t read credits then — or, anyway, not at the start — but soon I realized that I was collecting the work of the photographer Irving Penn. It was his vision that I craved — that I still crave when I think about what photography can be. Whether Penn was shooting a nude, a glove or Truman Capote, he honored the truth of his subjects at a particular moment. He knew that just as a rose’s petals will fall, every moment will fade, but if the photo succeeds, de Kooning’s secrets will remain.

Lyon is a journalist, but not by the usual ’90s definition. Whether he was photographing the Civil Rights Movement in the American South in the ’60s or the guerrilla uprising in Mexico in the ’90s, his journalism is not about the surface, the sensational, the soundbite; it is imbued with his respect for the people he photographs, and with the commitment and responsibility this respect entails. Now, in his collages, Lyon has come up with an emotional kind of journalism exploring classes and cultures and the options that people are allowed. Claiming the same credibility for his personal images as for his more conventional documentary pictures, he has made some of his most political and most moving work to date.

It turns out that the situation is hardly clear at this point and after 3 Months we still have no idea if photos are allowed as originally suggested by Orr or not. What we do have are a series of week after week after week non-answers coming back from Starbucks marketing. Below are all of the responses filtered out from Starbucks which read like typical corporate doublespeak and delay tactics, with no official answer from Starbucks and no official answer anywhere near in sight
