We might be all photographers now, but does that mean that we all have to be mindless consumers as well?

Unlike news, Google displays the complete photographs, not just the links to them. Furthermore, it has recently change its design to display even larger thumbnails ( can we call them thumbnails anymore ?). There shouldn’t be two measures here. Either links are being paid for, or they are not. In France and in Belgium previously, Google has decided to pay. So why not photography ? It certainly could use the financial help.

Getting images removed from photo agencies' websites: so hot right now. On Monday, we discovered that photos of Kanye West in his much-maligned kilt at the 12-12-12 concert were removed from Getty's site and various others. Now, controversial shot

I first ran across Kalpesh Lathigra‘s series Anglo-Afghan War on tumblr, and was struck by the images. The work looks nothing like other coverage of the conflict I’ve seen. In the images, there aren’t explosions. There aren’t soldiers shooting. There aren’t locals kneeling or being interrogated. It’s a different view of the country and foreign militaries, and that got me intrigued. I asked Lathigra a little about the project, how it came about, and what the viewer learns from this approach to such a well-photographed subject.

Take your work seriously, but not yourself. I think a lot of photographers get caught up in nonsense. They worry about their work in all sorts of ways. Don’t waste time and energy worrying. Just go out and have fun, see the world around you and keep shooting. If you’re passionate, devoted and maybe have some talent in 10 or 20 years you might have a nice body of work. If you don’t, at least you had fun along the way!!

It draws on the expertise and knowledge of internationally renowned photo-reporters and consists both of a series of in-depth workshops on a number of issues related to the city

The output of the workshops will contribute to an on-going contemporary documentation of
