We had planned to ride the Metrorail through three stations to see if anybody would try to stop us from taking pictures of the trains.
We didn’t even make it inside the first station.
The results for 2010 were announced on

The Stampy Digital Camera reminds me of those old “How To Draw Comic-Books” guides. You’d get a step one (stick men), step two (circles and rectangles) and a step three (the amazing, finished artwork). Somewhere there was a missing step 2.5, which was whe

On Sunday, writer and contributing editor Sarah Vowell called the project’s end “oddly anticlimactic,” but questioned whether work was actually complete because the show had not yet addressed the subject of “Things Ending.”
“Seeing this project through to its culmination was equally satisfying and strange,” said Vowell, speaking at a book signing in Colonial Williamsburg dressed as Betsy Ross. “I feel not unlike the early Pilgrims, who, standing atop Plymouth Rock after a long and arduous sea voyage, reflected on their journey, perhaps thinking to themselves ‘For God’s sake—doesn’t anybody have anything to eat in this settlement?’”
I hope that my work can remind us that imagination can defy gravity and bend time. It is our own responsibility to enjoy every second of the day. Nobody else can do that for us. Have fun, eat candy, do what you love, love what you do… We might get thrown off this spinning ball of iron and mantle tomorrow.
Jules Mattsson, the 16-year-old photographer, is very, very good in this recording. He knows his rights, he admirably keeps his cool as two lawless goons with badges harass him and detain him. Kids like this give me hope for the future of the human race. On the other hand, cops who invent imaginary laws and demand that the public abide by them — after the Association of Police Chiefs has made it abundantly clear that the police must not harass amateur and professional photographers.

Avoid dead camera batteries by putting a strip of solar panels on your camera strap. Simple, and rather clever, right? That’s exactly what Weng Jie’s Solar Camera Strap does, although in coming up with the design he forgot an important point: you can’t ch

We’ve all learned a lesson “the hard way.” We all wish we paid more attention in school. We all think that life would have been easier if someone just taught us that one really important lesson.
I decided to ask a few of photographers what they wished they learned earlier in their career. I asked them to think of an experience that happened in their life that would have been better if they had learned something earlier.

Here is a camera that is actually smaller and feels lighter than a 35 mm pro DSLR, handles much better than any Medium Format camera, yet delivers image quality competitive with the bigger, heavier and much more cumbersome top of the line Medium Format systems. I would say that this is proof that the tweener concept is a great one.
First of all, why even write an artist/project statement? Well, you write a statement because that’s part of the game. That’s a pretty lousy answer, and there is more to statements than just that. But you need to realize that a) you should have a statement because you are expected to have one and b) you should spend a little bit of time on it, because a bad artist statement will make you and your work look bad.
