I’ve been hording this group of inspirational work since the beginning of the year. I hope you enjoy this round of multimedia goodness that I find inspiring and worth sharing.
Me, I do not try to understand. For me, the most beautiful thing is to wake up, to go out, and to look. At everything. Without anyone telling me “You should look at this or that.” I look at everything and I try to find what interests me, because when I set out, I don’t yet know what will interest me. Sometimes I photograph things that others would find stupid, but with which I can play around. Henri as well says that before meeting a person, or seeing a country, he has to prepare himself. Not me, I try to react to what comes up. Afterwards, I may come back to it, perhaps every year, ten years in a row, and I will end by understanding.
I happily sent myself back to Sun City for a third trip this month (the second trip in January is still under wraps for the client). I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying this project. I’ve got 13 miles of city to wander with my camera about in, and on the last go, the rental car people gave me a yellow VW bug.

Audubon has sent me to lots of wild places over the past 31 years, but I’d seen only one wolf and three cougars (a litter) until December 8, 2009. On that day, before noon in the Glacier National Park ecosystem of northwestern Montana, I encountered not just one wolf but two and not just one cougar but two! What were the chances of that?
Well, they were 100 percent, because I’d rented the animals for a photo shoot.

Megan Whitmarsh is a very unique artist from Highland Park, CA who uses thread to create complex tableaux of characters in epic scenes of both fantasy and social anxiety. Drawing inspiration from 1980’s American pop culture and her intricate imagination, Megan’s canvas’ show a sympathy toward the misunderstood monster and a celebration of the magic of creation. Also an accomplished soft sculptor, Megan has created a mountain of stuffed replicas of trash she finds in her neighborhood.
