Preston Gannaway, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, moved to the neighborhood to begin a staff job at The Virginian-Pilot. Raised in mountain country, she was captivated by the chance to live seaside on a photographer’s salary. Almost immediately, the majesty of the sea inspired her to make photographs of the area and its people. Now, five years after the ocean lured her, she has published her first book, “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.”
