Bassam Khabieh, a Syrian freelance photographer covering the conflict in his homeland for Thompson Reuters, has won the Robert Capa gold medal from the Overseas Press Club. The award, for the “best published photographic reporting from abroad requiring exceptional courage and enterprise,” was given to Mr. Khabieh for his dramatic photographs of a field hospital in Douma, a Damascus suburb.
