Photographing on Ferguson’s Streets

Whitney Curtis was not surprised by the outpouring of anger and emotion after a police officer killed Michael Brown, an unarmed African-American teenager in Ferguson, Mo. As a resident of St. Louis, she has long been aware of strained race relations in the area. What she did not expect, however, was to be caught in the middle of it.
