nothing happens until it happens , but things are happening…cracking, buzzing, and yes burning bright…we will launch soonest a working model of BURN magazine (or journal or??)….the house will not be finished…we still need to get in the wiring and plumbing and it will be a long time before all the furniture is chosen and the interior is decorated and we all feel “at home”…but, at least you will have a sense of it….and you will have a “place at the table”….

In Russia, a Grisly Message Marks Rise in Hate Crimes
The e-mail that arrived Monday night in the inboxes of two organizations tracking hate crimes in Russia carried a disturbing message and an even more disturbing photo — that of a man’s severed head resting on a wooden chopping block.
“This surprise was prepared for Moscow officials by concerned Russian people who can no longer tolerate the invasion of foreigners in their native city,” the message declared, accusing darker-skinned migrant workers from the Caucasus and Asia of “an unprecedented wave of criminality that has swamped our capital.”

Can someone please explain to me how the clouds in this National Geographic International Photography Contest winning photograph are true reflections? Sure looks like a hideous photoshop job to me.These shallow waters are mainly famous for flamingos at Nal Sarovar near Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The picture shows the reflection of clouds on water.

Homemade DVD’s: Going, Going, Gone?
he registration area while attendees stand in line. No problem, I thought: I’ve got all of the original iMovie projects backed up on DVD, in clear cases, neatly arrayed in a drawer next to my desk. (My hard drive wasn’t big enough to hold those 50 videos a year.)
Guess what? On the Mac I use for video editing, most of the DVD’s were unreadable. They’re less than four years old!
