Nikon today unveiled the D780, calling it “a new kind of DSLR.” It’s a camera that has the tall task of replacing the company’s most popular full-frame DSLR ever, the D750, and it aims to do so by combining the soul of the Z6 mirrorless camera with the body of the D750.

Canon today announced the new 1D X Mark III, the company’s new flagship DSLR and successor to the 1D X Mark II that was announced back in early 2016.

Since the release of the Sony Alpha series of cameras back in October of 2013, Sony has been on a steady pace to take over the professional camera market. But that steady takeover has come with a lot of releases. Nearly six years later, ten different cameras have been released into the Alpha series. With that many released, the burden of product development has hit the wallets the hardest. Even still, it’s hard to debate the incredible product that Sony is producing, especially when looking at the competition. So today, we’re going to look at the latest and greatest from Sony’s busy release cycle, the Sony a7R Mark IV.

The Sony a9 II is best described as a “refinement” of the original a9. It uses the same 24.2MP stacked CMOS sensor from the first a9, boasts the same 20fps black-out free shooting with the electronic shutter, and can perform the same 60 calculations per second with its blazing fast AF system.

The Fuji X-Pro 3 is the first digital camera that’s genuinely piqued my interest in a long time – and it’s not even been officially released yet. Fuji did some sort of pre-announcement presentation sometime last week, which was followed by the online photography press exploding with news and pictures of a camera that seemed to cause a disproportionate amount of disgust. I wasn’t disgusted though, in fact, I found myself really quite intrigued – not because I want to buy it, but instead for the simple fact that a mainstream camera manufacturer seems to have tried to create something a little different to the broadly homogeneous kit the other big brands are churning out.

Sony has just unveiled the RX100 Mark VII, and the latest iteration of their popular, powerful point-and-shoot camera is a veritable speed demon. Thanks to a new sensor, the RX100 VII can shoot at 20fps with no blackout and full AF/AE, can perform 90fps bursts with AF/AE locked, and promises Sony a9 level autofocus performance.

During a live presentation in New York City this morning, Sony revealed its latest full-frame mirrorless camera, breaking new ground in this ever-more crowded market with the Sony a7R IV: the world’s first 61MP full-frame camera, with a burst speed of up to 10fps, and a reported 15 stops of dynamic range.

Hasselblad today announced the new X1D II 50C medium format mirrorless camera, a followup to the X1D, which became the world’s first compact medium format mirrorless camera when it was unveiled back in 2016.

Fujifilm has announced the new GFX100, a 102-megapixel medium format mirrorless camera that the company calls “a game changer in digital camera technology and capability.” It’s the new flagship camera of the GFX line.

While Nikon surprisingly took the crown from Canon in 2018 with 52% representation among winning photos compared to Canon’s 30%, Nikon’s time at the top didn’t last long. This year, Canon struck back and was behind 46.4% of the winning photos compared to Nikon’s 36.8%.
