Kathryn Cook (b.1979) is a freelance photographer represented by Agence VU’ and Prospekt Fotografi in Italy. Kathryn grew up in New Mexico and studied Journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The shadow of a train runs along the Baghdad Railway, used by the Turkish government to deport thousands of Armenians in 1915. In the window, there is a figure of a traveler, the photographer herself: Kathryn Cook. The image, among the first in her photo essay, “Memory of Trees,” conveys the sense of a personal journey into a historically resonant landscape.

Kathryn Cook Wins Inge Morath Award
The 2008 Inge Morath has been awarded to Kathryn Cook for her project “Memory Denied: Turkey and the Armenian Genocide.”
