  • Lizzie Sadin wins the 8th Carmignac Photojournalism Award – The Eye of Photography

    On October 20th, the Hôtel de l’Industrie in Paris (6th Arrondissement) opened a sobering and visually striking exhibition. Lizzie Sadin is showing images from the series The Trap—Trafficking Women in Nepal. The exhibition has been distinguished with the 8th Carmignac Photojournalism Award. Thanks to a €50,000 grant, the French photographer was able to bring to light a form of modern slavery, which has thus far received little media attention, perpetrated in a society devastated by the 2015 earthquake.

    A gripping look behind prison walls. By request of Noorderlicht, guest curators Hester Keijser and Pete Brook have brought together work by eleven women photographers, presenting quite unexpected photography of great variety, revealing life behind bars. 
Artists include: Araminta de Clermont, Amy Elkins, Alyse Emdur, Christiane Feser, Brenda Ann Kenneally, Jane Lindsay, Deborah Luster, Nathalie Mohadjer, Yana Payusova, Lizzie Sadin, Lori Waselchuk.

  • Photos of Juvenile Inmates Around the World

    Lens:

    Lizzie Sadin started researching her project “Children Behind Bars” in 1999 — though it took her more than a year to be allowed to shoot inside a prison in Russia. By then, she had no plans to seek out prisons in other countries.
