I traveled around Cuba in June 2015 and took these montages of daily life. In some places, like Santiago de Cuba (the second largest city), many people had never yet met an American. I wonder about the changes American contact and eventual investment may bring. But I’m optimistic that improvements in economic opportunity and open communication won’t require sacrificing what the Cuban people have built that is unique and valued by them, and fascinating to outsiders.
