Jamal Cyrus has been known to bread and deep-fry a tenor saxophone during a recurring performance piece — exactly the type of absurd, hard-core art act likely to impress idealistic teenagers. Fortunately, he had ample opportunity to engage with creative young minds while running the Teen Council at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston for several years.
